![]() The first unit we will look at is Early Humans. In this unit we will first look at the evolution of Hominids and their migration throughout the world. Then we will look at how advanced their achievements were and create a project explaining how they impact our lives today! We will also look at Egypt's form of writing called Hieroglyphics. Finally, we will write an essay arguing whether we believe Ramses the Great, was actually a great pharaoh! For more info about the lessons, click here! ![]() In this unit, we will look at the first of the Classical civilizations; Greece! We will first understand the geographical advantages and disadvantages of settling there and how it impacted the economy. We will then look at some political figures and study the beginnings of Democracy. Then, during CST testing, we will create our own myth! For more info on the lessons, click here! ![]() | Our Ancient History kickoff will actually have to do with the picture to the left; GRAPES. After we go over procedures, and complete a timeline of 5 important events of our lives, we will embark on a GRAPES project. GRAPES stands for Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economy and Social Structure. These are the elements of all civilizations. However, we will first look at our own GRAPES. By the end of this unit, you will create a GRAPES project about YOU. For more info on GRAPES, click here! ![]() In the Second Unit we will look at the first Ancient Civilization in the world. It's called Mesopotamia. In this unit we will really discover how geography allowed for people in this region to settle in one spot. We will also look at the first form of written language, cuneiform. Throughout this unit you will be working with a partner, designing a city-state and writing a letter convincing hunter-gatherers to move there! For more info about the lessons, click here! ![]() This next unit, is called the Religion unit, as it covers Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism. All the religions still exist today! For each religion we will learn about the basic practices and beliefs. Then, we will get into groups and create a skit, that shows that the beliefs held by these religions can still apply to our everyday lives today! We will only study the rise of Rome, and get to see other pieces of our political system. We will also look at the economy of Rome and how it impacts our own financial futures.
