Egypt Unit
In this unit, students will get to look at the notorious civilization of Egypt. Students will get to see and understand that both the art and hieroglyphics were used to record their history, which is why we are able to know so much about their daily life. Egyptians also had a very distinct Social Structure and we will use the social structure of school to understand how and why it was able to develop. The students will also get their first exposure to polytheism, or the belief in many gods. This unit will end with a study of leadership. The famed Pharaoh's are a large study to historians as most of the surviving archaeological record in Egypt, was built because of them! At the end of the unit, the students will use the analysis and evidence skills in the prior unit and write an essay where they argue whether the Pharaoh Ramses was truly a great leader.
